Chen Teng| ArtistChen Teng is an award-winning erhu-player from China. She was admitted to the Affiliated High School of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2008 before joining the department of folk music of Shanghai Conservatory in 2013. In 2009, Teng won the first international Chinese instrumental music competition erhu professional group excellence award; in 2010, she won the first prize of the 10th golden bell award (Anhui division); in 2011, she won the 11th Yangtze river delta ethnic instrumental ensemble outstanding award; and in 2015 and 2016, Teng was the recipient of the Shanghai people's scholarship.
Teng enjoys the full range of performance experiences. She has given many solo concerts whilst has also collaborated with a Chinese string ensembles, national orchestras, modern pop bands, and western string ensembles. Teng is also an ethnomusicologist and sinologist. She was awarded a master’s degree in music at King’s College London in 2020 and is a PhD music researcher at the University of Southampton. |
