Reylon Yount | Co-Director, Artist
Reylon Yount is a Chinese American yangqin player from San Francisco. The yangqin is a percussive string instrument from China, and he enjoys exploring new sonic territory with the instrument by performing contemporary pieces, experimental improvisations, and indie folk songs. In 2014, Reylon became the first American to enter a professional yangqin competition in China, where he won a silver prize at the Baotou International Yangqin Arts Festival. In 2015, he began collaborating with Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble, and has since performed with them in the U.S., Canada, and China at various venues, including the TED mainstage and Lincoln Center. He appeared as a featured artist on the Silk Road Ensemble's 2017 GRAMMY Award-winning album, "Sing Me Home." He has studied at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and graduated from Harvard College in 2016. Reylon completed two master's degrees in music in London, supported by a Marshall Scholarship and a Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visa endorsed by Arts Council England.
