Tangram appointed Artists-in-Residence in Contemporary Music at the University of Manchester

WE have been appointed Artists-in-Residence in Contemporary Music at the University of Manchester, in a programme supported by the Manchester Confucius Institute.

As part of the residency, Tangram will collaborate closely with students and faculty, offering workshops, seminars, and discussions that open up new perspectives on creativity and music-making. The programme also aims to build connections with the wider Manchester community, inviting audiences to engage with fresh sounds, ideas, and intercultural artistic exchange.

Looking ahead, we will return to Manchester in spring 2026 to deliver a series of workshops and a public concert, showcasing new work created during the residency and celebrating the collaborations formed with University students and staff.

"We are thrilled to begin this residency," said our co-director, Rockey "It gives us the chance to deepen our artistic practice, to work closely with the next generation of musicians, and to create music that speaks across cultures. We are especially looking forward to returning in 2026 to share the fruits of this collaboration in concert."

This residency continues the University of Manchester’s tradition of nurturing contemporary artistic voices and supporting cultural exchange, made possible through the generous backing of the Manchester Confucius Institute.
